Pridgeon Stadium will be filled with maroon and green in the highest profile match-up between these two programs since 2007. The Cypress Fairbanks district has become infamous for its explosive offenses in recent times, but Fair and Falls are leading this year's pack with two of the state's top ten adjusted scoring defenses. Cy Fair is sticking with its tried-and-true ground game, led by senior RB John Jacob. Cy Falls' spread attack starts with senior QB Troy Mitchell. Neither offense has been as explosive as expected potentially, but they haven't had to be thanks to strong team defensive efforts. Cy Fair comes into this game with an extra day of rest after an easy win over Cy Springs last week. Cy Falls went the distance in a 27-22 win over Langham Creek and must gear up for what's likely to be another four quarter battle on short rest. Cy Fair's freshness could make the difference in a tight game when a team needs to dig down deep, and Cy Falls may be able to tap into its diverse array of big play talent to make the game winner. It would be a surprise if either team pulls away in what should be a hard fought and low scoring struggle. no http://www.cyfallsathletics.org/en/art/898/ Thu, 13 Oct 2011 13:00:00 GMT Articles http://www.cyfallsathletics.org/en/art/899/ Cy-Fair Roundup: 17-5A race tough and tight

There's a month to go in District 17-5A football, and the schedule is stocked with tantalizing matchups, and a couple of the biggest blockbusters are this week.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, Cy-Fair (6-0 overall, 5-0 District 17-5A) meets Cy Falls (6-0, 5-0) for sole possession of first place at Pridgeon Stadium, while Cy Woods (4-2, 3-2) takes on Langham Creek (4-2, 3-2) at Berry Stadium with the winner taking over fourth place and the final playoff position for now.

Those games will have a big impact on the standings, but it won't really finalize much, and even Jersey Village (3-3, 2-3) against Cy Ridge (2-4, 2-3) at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, at Pridgeon has serious postseason implications in what is a quasi elimination contest.

After opening district with losses to Cy Falls 28-12 and Cy-Fair 14-0, Cy Woods' offense has come alive in lopsided victories over Cy Ranch 68-21, Jersey Village 63-24 and Cy Lakes 63-14, and with Langham Creek also putting up plenty of points (nearly 49 per game), the Berry Stadium scoreboards better be ready to go.

"Some defenses also better be ready to show up," Cy Woods coach David Jones said. "Langham Creek has an outstanding quarterback to go along with outstanding running backs and receivers, and their offensive line is one of the best around.

"We haven't been doing anything special over the past few weeks other than just starting to play better.
