Gray emerges for Cy Falls
Currently 5/5
Junior QB leads powerful offense for Golden Eagles By WILLIAM HATFIELD For The Chronicle With only one offensive starter returning from last year's Class 5A Division II state runner-up squad, Cypress Falls coach David Raffield didn't know what to expect from his team when it came to scoring. Thanks to quarterback Kolby Gray, Raffield's biggest problem has been trying not to run up the score. Cy Falls has put up incredible offensive numbers while posting an 8-2 record. The Golden Ea

Cy Falls defeats Langham Creek 56-14
Currently 5/5
Written by Paulette Heidbreder Friday October 26, 2007 The Cy Falls Golden Eagles rode the arm of quarterback Kolby Gray and their vaunted receiving core for a 56-14 victory over the Langham Creek Lobos Friday night. It didn’t take the crowd at Berry Center long to see why the Golden Eagles quarterback is ranked among area passers and his favorite receivers Darius Bolden, Denzel Wells, and Blake Shaw are among the area’s biggest gainers in reception yards. The Eagles took two plays and

Blake Shaw - Sterling Bank Athlete of the Week
Currently 5/5
Written by Tiffany Groce Tuesday October 23, 2007 The Athlete’s Connection has named Cypress Falls senior Blake Shaw as our Sterling Bank Athlete of the Week. This recent University of Southern California (USC) track & field commit helped lead his football team to a 49-37 victory over the Cy Fair Bobcats last week. The nationally-televised game held no added pressure for Shaw. “[It] was my night to be open because they were keying in on the other guys, and I took advantage of it."

Turner shines, Cy Falls dominates Cy-Fair
Currently 5/5
Written by Dave Purpura Thursday October 18, 2007 Cypress Falls running back Shane Turner had four Division I offers entering Thursday night's nationally-televised game against Cy-Fair at The Berry Center. After rushing for 195 yards and four touchdowns in addition to a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, Turner's phone may be ringing non-stop from here on. Turner upstaged Cy-Fair running back Sam McGuffie, a Michigan commitment, by running for touchdowns from 3, 35 and 69 ya

Explosive Cy Falls hands Strake Jesuit first loss
Currently 0/5
Written by Dave Purpura Friday October 12, 2007 The statistics from Cypress Falls’ 55-32 win at Strake Jesuit on Friday night suggests the Eagles’ coaches might not be warm and fuzzy over the defensive effort. That the Eagles allowed four touchdowns and 360 yards leads to the wrong conclusion. A week after Cypress Ridge quarterback Russell Shepard torched the Eagles for 341 rushing yards and five touchdown runs of 40 yards or more, Cy Ridge held previously unbeaten Strake Jesuit to

Cy Ridge, Shepard on point in 51-35 victory over Cy Falls
Currently 5/5
Written by Ahmard Vital Saturday October 06, 2007 When two high-powered offenses like Cy Ridge (4-1, 2-0) and Cy Falls (3-2, 1-1) face off, many would expect plenty of big plays to happen on both sides. All who were in attendance at Pridgeon Stadium Saturday night witnessed exactly that. But one team stole the show. Cy Ridge, led by quarterback Russell Shepard’s five touchdowns, remain undefeated in District 17-5A play with a 51-35 victory over Cy Falls in a District 17-5A game.

Westfield win good for Cy Falls' confidence

Golden Eagles open district play on September 28 against Cy Creek By TODD HVEEM Chronicle Correspondent Over the past three years, the Cypress Falls Golden Eagles have made a habit of putting together a long playoff run. Last year, coach David Raffield's Golden Eagles advanced to the Class 5A Division II state-title game. But, during that same time frame, the Golden Eagles also have made quite a habit out of losing to the tradition-rich Westfield Mustangs. Prior to this season, the Golde

Cy Falls offense on point with 34-20 win over Taylor
Currently 5/5
Going into the bye week with a win and a 2-1 record is exactly what the Cy Falls football team needed so that they could head into District 17-5A play with momentum. And after a 34-20 win over Katy Taylor at Pridgeon Stadium Friday night, it is quite clear the Golden Eagles are poised for a strong showing this season. Cy Falls wasted no time getting on the board with quarterback Kolby Gray in the shotgun. Gray hit receiver Darius Bolden for 32 yards to set up a 32-yard touchdown pass to Denze

What a thriller at Pridgeon: Cy Falls 47, Westfield 45
Currently 5/5
by Sam Khan - Chronicle Sports Unbelievable. That's the only way to describe the Cypress Falls-Westfield battle at Pridgeon Stadium on Friday night. Westfield had as much as a 12-point lead twice. The No. 6 state-ranked Mustangs led 19-7 at halftime and led 32-20 heading into the fourth quarter. Cypress Falls refused to give up easy, though. There were so many players that made huge plays for the Golden Eagles. First, QB David Tamez who started the game under center, played pretty wel
